Respond to a Risk
A risk response is your plan for dealing with a risk. Adding a response improves your Quality Score.
Response Strategies
| Strategy | When to Use |
|---|---|
| Avoid | Change plans to eliminate the risk |
| Mitigate | Reduce the probability or impact |
| Transfer | Shift the risk to another party (insurance, contractor) |
| Accept | Acknowledge the risk and monitor it |
| Exploit | For opportunities — take action to make them more likely |
Steps
Open a risk — Click on any risk in the register
Find the Response section — Scroll to "Response" on the risk detail page
Add a response:
- Strategy type: Select from Avoid, Mitigate, Transfer, Accept, Exploit
- Description: What will you do? Be specific.
- Owner: Who is responsible for the response?
- Due date: When should the response be implemented?
Save — Click "Save Response"
After the Response
Once a response is in place, update the residual assessment to show the reduced risk level after mitigation.
If the response was successful and the risk is no longer active, change the status to Mitigated.
